Hi guys! My name is Danielle Fleshood, and I thought it was appropriate to make my first blog post a little introduction about me and my life. I was born in Indiana, but I've lived in Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio as well. My family currently lives in Franklin, OH which is about an hour and a half from Ohio Northern. I am a communication major with a minor in graphic design, and I am considering minoring in social media as well. My goal is to work for a promo team or do merch design for a radio station or record company. I live with my 13-year-old sister, 5-year-old sister, my adorable dog, and parents.  When it comes to hobbies, I love drawing, doing makeup and going to concerts. I've been drawing since I was 6-years-old, and I really enjoy drawing people. I also recently started drawing more on my laptop using different apps and tools. I've been doing makeup for about 8 months but a lot of the artistry for that stems from my love for d

Dreams Coming True

I had a couple of major goals in 2019. My top three were to visit Los Angeles, make a ton of impulsive decisions, and get at least one of my designs used for merch by an artist or influencer. Now, with only less than a month left of the year, I can happily say I accomplished my top three goals. I visited LA in the summer and leave to visit again on December 30th, I made a few ~too~ many impulsive decisions (my bank account is really regretting it), and the most exciting in my opinion, my first merch campaign in collaboration with YouTuber and influencer, Caitlyn Rae. I’ve known Caitlyn for about a year and a half now, when she only had 15,000 subscribers, now as 2019 nears she has nearly 300,000 subscribers. At the end of October, Caitlyn and I started discussing plans for a possible collaboration for her Black Friday launch. I threw around the idea of a Christmas sweater design and Caitlyn was really excited about it so we went for it. I spent about an hour or two that night worki

Disney+: Is it Worth it?

Disney+ is a streaming service that just launched this past Tuesday, November 12. This service is comparable to Netflix and other streaming services, but all of the content is Disney, Marvel, and Pixar based. There are documentaries, series, and movies from all different time eras of the Disney company. There are shows and movies from my childhood such as Lizzie Mcguire, Hannah Montana, Phil of the Future, Camp Rock, etc., as well as shows and movies from my parents’ childhood as well.  Disney+ is also offering a lot of originals that won’t be available anywhere else, which is an idea that has been done before on Netflix and Hulu. Some of the originals available now are High School Musical: The Series , Lady and the Tramp , and Mandalorian .  I started watching Lizzie Mcguire yesterday and I really want to watch the new Dumbo and rewatch all of my childhood shows as well. Disney+ is only $6.99 a month which is cheaper than comparable Netflix subscriptions. Each accou

Meet My Best Friends

Image
I struggled to think of a topic to write about this week so I tried to think about what consumed my life the most. Writing about school, music, or art seemed a little redundant so I decided to write a whole post about my three best friends, Sarah, Kylee, and Anna. Sarah is my best friend and roommate; we met our sophomore year of high school and became close our senior year. We ultimately ended both picking Ohio Northern and became roommates. I spend more time with Sarah than I do my own family. We’re together constantly here at school, but also constantly when we’re home as well since we only live five minutes from each other. We are almost total opposites but it definitely works for the best. We do both love going to concerts and traveling together though and that is for sure our common ground. I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that my friend Kylee and I are the exact same person. There is no one on this Earth that could be more similar, we have the s

What You're Missing on Your Playlist!

If you’re in the loop of only listening to radio music or the top 50 hits on Spotify or Apple Music you’re definitely missing out. Some of my favorite, and in my opinion, some of the best artists I’ve listened to vocally and lyrically are those who are not super well known. That being said here are two in-depth descriptions of artists in my opinion that you should definitely check out are super talented, as well as a shortlist of recommended songs from some of my other favorite small artists. Spencer Sutherland Spencer is one of the most down-to-earth, talented people I’ve ever seen live. He grew up in Columbus and played local bars until he made it onto the UK X-Factor in 2017. Spencer didn’t make it until the end, but he recently just got signed to LA-based record label, BMG records. His songwriting abilities and voice are truly unique and are a combination I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Spencer’s songs are very personal, but still extremely relatable. The Riding Out East, Then West, Then East Again Tour

This last Friday, I went to Cincinnati with my best friend to go see and meet YouTubers/comedians, Cody Ko and Noel Miller on their Riding Out East, Then West, Then East Again Tour. This was the second time I got to see Cody and Noel live, I saw them the first time earlier this year. They make commentary videos where they watch or react to strange videos and accounts and create parody songs, resulting in hilarious content. Their live show is nothing less than exceptional, I’d say funnier than their typical YouTube content. The whole show filled with tons of jokes, crowd participation, a few live songs, a live “That’s Cringe” segment, and a Q&A.  Before the show started, I was able to meet and talk to them a little bit which was a super fun experience. They were super sweet, but also made jokes the entire time. My dad said I wouldn’t ask them to roast me because I’m too sensitive, so obviously I had to ask them to do it to prove him wrong. Sure enough, they didn’t hesit

Four Songs that are an Instant Mood Booster

Image
It’s now halfway through the semester, everyone is in the thick of classes, midterms, and homework and sometimes it just gets you down. Sometimes it’s important to just step back, listen to music, and relax even for just 20 minutes. Music is definitely an escape and can change my mood very fast. Here are my top four favorite happy mood songs to play when I start to feel a little down. Be Alright by Ariana Grande: This song has been one of my all-time favorites since its release in early 2016. The song is all about getting over the small things that bring you down and it reminds you that “every little thing is gonna be alright.” The song is only two minutes long so it’s definitely a quick pick-me-up. Just Fine by Backhouse Mike: This song is a super fun song about just living your life and no matter what you’re going through everything is gonna be “just fine.” This is a good song to play with friends if you are all feeling a little down and need a little dance party break

Not Your Average Wednesday

Yesterday was a really fun and cool day for me. I went back home on Tuesday night so that I could spend my day in Cincinnati on Wednesday for a concert. Little did I know so many good things would happen. Wednesday morning, I woke up extra early so I could go visit my daycare kids and spend some time with them since it had been over a month since I saw some of them. It was very bittersweet because I was not ready to leave them again, I love those kiddos so much!  Then we headed down to iHeart Media in Cincinnati for a visit to the Kiss107 studios where I got to meet and watch Lennon Stella perform. I have been a fan of Lennon’s music since I was probably 12 or 13 so it was really nice finally getting to see her and talk to her.  Before the event started, our friend Josh Martinez who works at the studios pulled my best friend aside to let her know that we would be meeting 5 Seconds of Summer, or 5SOS, later that day. My best friend and I have loved 5SOS since our freshman
