Which Summer Tour Will You Go To?

Image
Summer concerts are simply the best concerts, everyone is happy, the sun is shining, and it's just all around good energy. There are quite a few tours this summer that you should definitely go to! Here is a list below! Ariana Grande's Sweetener Tour- This tour began in early March of this year, but most of the tour was rescheduled due to her Coachella performances. This arena tour takes place all summer all around the US. This is definitely a show you do not want to miss, the visuals are breathtaking and the stage is a brand new concept. Her tour outfits are all incredible and custom made for her, and if you're lucky you will even catch her Balenciaga jacket that she throws into the crowd every show. The opening acts include past Fifth Harmony member, Normani Kordei, and pop duo, Social House. Both are close friends of Ariana and that energy shows on stage. Ariana will be stopping by Columbus on July 1st! Maybe you'll make it there!  Shawn Mendes: The Tour- This

Apps to Edit Your Pictures Like a Pro

Image
Editing pictures has become a major part of today's society. Whether you're a photographer and editing your photos to make them all cohesive or just trying to make your Instagram feed look put together, making sure you use the right editing tools is extremely important. Here are three free apps that you can use to really improve your editing game. Adobe Lightroom- Almost every photographer uses this service to edit their pictures. This is a program you can use on your computer or you can use the app version on your phone. Lightroom allows people to edit their photos in depth by changing the brightness, contrast, saturation, the hues and intensity of certain colors, and many more. On this program, you can also create and save your own filters, known as presets, to use on multiple pictures. This allows a set of photos to all look very similar without spending a lot of time on each photo. You can also sell your own or buy other people's presets as well. Lightroom does have

More Concerts!

Image
This last week I went to two different concerts in Detroit! On Thursday, April 11th, I went to see Why Don't We at the Fox Theater for their "8 Letters" tour! This is the third time I've met, and seen these guys live. They are super talented and some of the most genuine artists out there. We were able to hang out with them and just talk for a while before their meet and greet which was a lot of fun. Their show went really well and the venue was insane, it was definitely one of the most beautiful theaters I have ever seen. This is the biggest tour they have done this far in terms of venue size, each show averages about 6,000 people, and almost every show is sold out. This is a huge upgrade when last year they were playing shows for around 500 people. They played all of their new music but threw in some old ones as well.  They had a huge screen behind them as they sang that they had some incredible graphics on, they added a lot more choreography this tour as well. Infographic

Image
This week we had to do an assignment where we had to create an infographic relating to a subject/topic that we heard about at the social media workshop that took place at Ohio Northern a few weeks ago. I made my infographic on The City of Dublin Irish Festival.  Making this infographic was a lot of fun for me as a design minor. I love making sure everything is lined up and the colors match well but aren't too much on the eyes. I tried to put as many graphics that made sense without crowding the information that was necessary to have on the graphic.  Other than the mission statement, I tried to keep the information short and sweet because personally if I see a poster with paragraphs, I'm less likely to scan it and actually read it in full to understand what message it's communicating. I understand why infographics are important and I think they are great tools to use to help share information or represent your company or business.

Why Content Curation is Important

Image
In chapter 9 of Social Media for Strategic Communication , it talks in great detail about content curation. Content curation, according to Hootsuite, is  the process of sorting through large amounts of content on the web and presenting the best posts in a meaningful and organized way. The process can include sifting, sorting, arranging, and placing found content into specific themes and then publishing that information.  Content creation is important because if your content isn't organized or posted in a way that best reaches your audience, you could lose current followers or lose the interest of new, potential followers. Curating your content is all about growth and growing your brand to the best of your ability. A key component of this is to not only share content with your audience but also share why your brand and messages are important to them. Today there is often a media overload on every platform which makes it harder for your posts to be seen or deemed as an important

Dumbo!

Image
On Friday, March 29, the classic children’s movie, “Dumbo,” was rereleased but in a whole new way. The original “Dumbo” was first released in 1941, making it 78 years old; due to its age, some of the jokes and content have become inappropriate in society today. The plot of the original movie is, Dumbo is born, but he is not what the other circus animals, or although we never see them, the circus masters, had in mind. Dumbo was born with large ears, which immediately made him his own attraction. While dealing with the struggles of bullying from other animals in the circus and learning where his place is, his mother is taken from him. The movie follows his struggles and the story of him finding his place in the circus. Disney and director, Tim Burton, decided to remake the movie, using human characters and computer-generated imagines (CGI). The use of human characters was simply not used or important in the original, but those characters have become the main focus in the remake.

Types of Audiences

Image
When working with social media, you encounter many different types of audiences. In chapter eight of our class textbook, Social Media for Strategic Communication , it explains the seven types of audience. There are emerging audiences, opponents, ambassadors, communities, influencers, trolls, and creators. I will break them down by each category and explain the importance and role that they take.  Emerging Audiences- This type of audience member, you want to note as individuals, based on the monitoring and listening they do on social media because they could transform into a key primary audience. With new audience members, you will have more opportunity to have them share your posts/account which could continue to gain a greater audience.  Opponents- These audience members are also known as critics. These audiences are not going to be the biggest fans of the brand/company you represent. They constantly look and wish for downfalls on your brand. They are typically very active in shar
