Jobs in Social Media

After reading chapter four of our in-class book, Social Media for Strategic Communications, it became very clear that there are many different types of social media jobs. If you're looking to get a job in social media here is a list of options that you could do:

• Social Media Community Manager
• Social Media Manager
• Social Media Coordinator
• Social Media Strategist
• Content Creator
• Multimedia/Video Producer
• Writer/Editor
• Freelance Work

With so many options, it can make it easier to understand what you could be going into if you pursue social media as a job. There are larger management roles and smaller freelance or promotion roles you can play depending on what you would like to do on an everyday basis.

Being a part of every social platform is extremely important no matter what your role is in order to reach the biggest audience. Changing how you communicate from platform to platform, depending on your audience, is a major part of a social media role as well. 

Once you figure out which social media role you fit best in, work towards that goal and remember there are no experts in social media, so you're already qualified!
