Netflix is Raising its Price!

Netflix is everyone's favorite pastime and distraction from studying, but everyone is into different shows. Netflix offers so many different genres of old shows, new shows, and Netflix originals, but is it worth the monthly price increase?

We have all fallen victim to binge-watching shows on Netflix for hours on end. The last month or so I have been watching Friends, because I had never seen it, and I'm already on season 7. Although older shows like Friends, Glee, Gilmore Girls, and Vampire Diaries are hits, Netflix recently has been praised for their original shows and movies. Movies like Bandersnatch, Birdbox, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, Dumplin' and tour documentaries like Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour. All of these movies have been raved about all over social media recently.  Netflix original shows that are the top rated include hits like Stranger Things, Fuller House, Haters Back Off, You, 13 Reasons Why, Black Mirror and many more.

Each Netflix original has a unique premise and storyline that really hasn't been done before. The movie Bandersnatch was the first interactive adult film to hit the media. There are so many different types of shows for everyone's specific taste, but many people were still shocked at the price increase that was announced in the new year. This price increase is the biggest one in Netflix history. The standard plan is changing from $11 to $13, but the other packages are remaining the same price.

Netflix claims that the increase is to help with production for their original shows which seems fair considering they are some of the most watched and talked about programs on the streaming site. What do you think? What do you watch on Netflix and do you think the price raise is worth it?

  1. This is a great view point on the worth of netflix vs. the need for all the different content it provides. I am lucky I don't pay for my own netflix account...yet.

  2. I have always had Netflix and I really enjoy their services. The cost for a monthly subscription is pretty fair, though over the years I've noticed an increase in very poor movies and TV shows. For a while, it seemed like they just made a show or movie for any idea someone pitched them. I think that is the main reason for the price increase. The quality of their shows are going down and, with more competition, they can't afford to just push out whatever they want anymore. If they want to stay relevant, I think that they're going to have to push out better products. I think raising the price just two dollars is pretty fair considering they could have really jacked up the price for this. We'll have to wait and see if it is worth it though.
